Tahiti Beach Residence

No residence better exemplifies the firm’s belief that architecture is not about a place, but a story that recalls the past and formulates the future better than our latest contemporary inspired home. Located in one of Coral Gables premiere neighborhoods, this 9,000 square foot residence draws much of its inventiveness from modern and traditional vocabularies indicative to tropical climates. The house compliments the existing typology of the distinguished neighborhood with a long formal drive and lush landscaping cradling the two story residence with large storefront windows, subtly highlighted with re-envisioned traditional details. In stark contrast, the rear of the house opens to sweeping views of the bay and downtown Miami in the distance, all framed by the two wings of the house. The most notable feature is the large swimming pool that slips underneath a line of bold rationalized Doric columns cantilevered over the water creating the sensation of floating out over the adjacent sea.

Villa Tramonto – Interiors

The residence is composed of three separate living units deployed around a central courtyard. The main, frontal, 2 story wing housing the fundamental functions; a one story guest house along the side street and a one story, covered terrace, wing connecting the two. Internally the layout is straightforward; continuing with a Mediterranean sensibility of circulation from room to room. A ground floor with vast ceilings, in an enfilade arrangement, around the central court avoids the usual gallery and encourages ventilation and natural illumination. An abundance of wooden details are present in the interior as well; from the 12’ high walnut, scalloped, paneling in the stair hall; to hand scraped cypress ceilings; and bleached walnut cabinetry. The villa is also a repository for the architects’ furnishings, curated over time. Amongst others, there is a moon stone temple at the entry foyer; a vast collection of Egyptian pottery in its gardens; 19th century French windows used as vitrines in the dining room; and a Bacchus stone mosaic tablet in the covered terrace.

Villa Marbella, Phase I- Interiors

Although traditional in feel, this Guest House resists categorization. This simple building anchored with an octagonal tower admits natural light into a central hall that is crowned by a celebrative frieze of Pompeian-inspired motifs with encrusted shells. The entire guest complex in this property is comprised of the guesthouse with a basement housing cisterns to collect rainwater, pool and outdoor dining pavilion, a trellised gazebo, pedimented-niched-pavilions and tall retaining walls.

Throughout the home, bespoke details prevail from intricate lattice ceilings to custom produced chain pattern stone floors. Handcrafted furnishings and traditionally inspired Caribbean wood work by master craftsmen infuse the island vernacular and soften the contemporary context hinted by state of the art control systems and electronics.

The architectural interiors of this beautiful and inviting South Florida bay front home are of generous and beautiful proportions. A casual luxury permeates throughout infused with lush materials; wide plank cherry floors, hand trowel walls, plaster frieze moldings; walnut doors are all distinctively used. The warm and approachable interiors are done in soft muted colors allowing the beautiful hues of Biscayne Bay to be showcased. A three-story stair commands the full height of the villa. The library is muscularly embraced in walnut cabinetry with hand carved accents while delicately and abstracted paneling graces the master bath suite. This stage setting is sensibly enhanced by an uncluttered and harmonious use of European antiques as well as contemporary furnishings.

Snapper Creek Chateau – Interiors

One enters through a light flooded double height space connecting though a groined vaulted gallery to the rest of the spaces. Balance and symmetry are the ruling character of the central block’s formal style. The central / formal room’s walls are paneled in cast- plaster moldings. Warmer and more rustic materials are introduced in the kitchen and family room bringing a sense of ease to the estate. From the Master Bedroom’s settee alcove, the view descends to vibrant tree canopies offering a restorative sanctuary.  Throughout, the materials create a mellow ambiance. Floors are of white marble, plastered walls and ceilings are painted in subtle shades of white-reminiscent of French linen.

Villa Delphi-Interiors

The confident typology of a grand Italian villa was adopted as a collection of timeless cultural influences, reflecting the owner’s culturally diverse background. Venetian in spirit, this home is enlivened with a mix of stately elements from around the world including zellige tile from Morocco, terracotta oil jars from Haiti and salvaged architectural elements from France. Together with terracotta brick flooring and Pecky cypress wood ceilings in the library, the house became a unifying canvas on which the vernacular influences evoke a great splendor. The most notable feature of this house is the award winning detached spa, which captures classical symmetry and the “Giottoesque dome” that was prominent in Roman antiquity.

Le Provencal- Interiors

A French provincial attitude permeates this 12,000 square foot residence, with grand intimate spaces juxtaposed in a melodious blend of natural materials used with a rustic panache. Reconstituted barn beams that date back 200 years crown the top of the stair hall and are accentuated by custom wrought iron work. Extensive architectural millwork was designed throughout the home including a custom paneled study and the use of historically significant architectural casework in the music room, to further evoke the vernacular of the French country side. The vaulted brick ceiling crowning the kitchen is highlighted by silver gilt chandeliers, while Venetian plaster and decorative friezes further add to the timeless quality throughout the interiors.

Cat Cay Retreat

Built on a private island in the Bahamas is a cleverly reworked, relaxed getaway. Borrowing from the architecture of the West Indies, the interiors embody the spirit of a tropical bungalow with a classical yet very pure and distilled look. By using soft colors and carefully designed elements like custom Portuguese tile and rare angelic teak wood floors, our goal of creating spatial lightness was achieved. Custom carved stone work, high coffered ceilings and other diverse components group themselves, creating a refined backdrop for glorious ocean views in a refreshingly simple way.
